21 March confirmed for Xolisani “Nomeva” Ndongeni’s farewell fight in East London

The countdown has officially begun as Ground Up Sports Promotion confirmed Saturday, 21 March 2026 as the date for Xolisani “Nomeva” Ndongeni’s highly anticipated farewell fight, themed “The Last Sting of the Wasp.” The event will mark the final chapter in Ndongeni’s distinguished professional boxing career.
Historic Date for a Historic Career

Promoter Loyiso Magqaza said the date adjustment was made to accommodate broadcasters and sponsors, ensuring maximum exposure for what is expected to be a sold-out spectacle in East London. The venue is still to be confirmed, with negotiations said to be at an advanced stage.
Magqaza highlighted the significance of the chosen date:

“We have not seen this level of excitement for our boxing event in East London. We are excited to confirm the date – 21 March is historic in many ways in South Africa. And it makes sense that Nomeva will have his farewell match on this day.”

While fans eagerly await confirmation of Ndongeni’s opponent, venue details, and ticket sales, organisers are intentionally keeping some elements under wraps to build anticipation.

More Than Just a Fight

For Magqaza and his team, this event is about far more than boxing.
Ndongeni’s retirement bout represents a celebration of Eastern Cape excellence and a platform for youth inspiration, skills transfer and meaningful partnerships with leading South African brands.
“This legacy event will provide an opportunity to celebrate Eastern Cape’s excellence, while simultaneously creating platforms for skills transfer, youth inspiration and an opportunity to showcase our strategic partnerships,” Magqaza added.
