Boxer officially opens school recycling centre in Thohoyandou

Boxer Superstores has officially opened a brand-new School Recycling Centre at Tshiluvhi Primary School, bringing excitement, hope, and new opportunities to learners and the wider Thohoyandou community.

The project was warmly welcomed by learners, teachers, community leaders, and local councillors, who praised
the initiative as a major boost for both the school and surrounding community. Excited learners gathered at the
launch event where they were introduced to practical recycling programmes aimed at teaching young people the
importance of keeping their environment clean while also creating opportunities for the school to generate a
sustainable income.

Speaking at the launch, Boxer Group Executive: Stakeholder Engagement Ntombi Dludla said the initiative would
not only educate learners and community members about recycling, waste separation, and environmental
responsibility, but would also create an ongoing income stream for the school. “Boxer is incredibly proud to give
this important school an opportunity to grow, uplift itself, and create a brighter future for its learners through this
recycling initiative,” she said.

Teachers and school leadership described the project as a true game changer, saying it gives children the power to take responsibility for their environment while learning valuable life skills that can benefit them and their families in the future. Community members attending the launch said the recycling centre is a symbol of empowerment, progress, and hope for local children. Many believe the programme will encourage cleaner surroundings, responsible habits, and stronger community involvement for years to come.

The initiative forms part of Boxer Superstores’ ongoing commitment to uplifting communities through meaningful partnerships focused on education, sustainability, and empowering future generations. The successful launch marked the beginning of what many believe will become a long-term catalyst for positive environmental change and community development in Thohoyandou.
