Relegation battle gets tough for Magesi FC

Magesi FC are no longer just flirting with danger — they’re deep in a relegation dogfight, and right now, the odds are stacking against them.

Their heavy 4–1 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium perfectly sums up their current situation: a team struggling for confidence, consistency, and defensive stability. Conceding four goals in such a crucial stage of the season is the kind of result that doesn’t just cost points — it dents belief.
With just six matches left, 17 points on the board, and only four points collected from a possible 15, Magesi are running out of time to fix things. Their only real bright spot in recent weeks was the win over Marumo Gallants, but results elsewhere — especially repeated losses to Chiefs and Sekhukhune United — have dragged them back down.

What makes their situation even more tense is how tight the relegation zone is. Just two points separate them from both Gallants and Orbit FC, meaning every single match from here on is effectively a final.
The upcoming fixture against Durban City FC isn’t just another game — it’s a must-win. Dropping points there could leave them needing near-perfect results in the remaining fixtures, which is unrealistic given their current form.

At this stage, survival will likely come down to three things:
tightening their defence (they’re conceding too easily),
turning home games into guaranteed points,
and grinding out results — even if it’s not pretty.

If they don’t quickly find resilience, Magesi could face either automatic relegation or the exhausting Promotion/Relegation Play-Offs — and right now, neither looks easy to escape.
