POLOKWANE The members of Westenburg Police Station have arrested two suspects for alleged murder following the discovery of a 47 year old male victim who was fatally stabbed inside his red Ford Ranger vehicle along the gravel road in Ivy dale on Tuesday, 13th January 2026.
The Vispol police members received complaint of stabbed victim at the Ivy dale plot. Upon arrival at the crime scene, they found a red Ford Ranger with limpopo registration number parked along the gravel road. Furthermore, the victim was sitting on the driver seat with visible stab wounds on his upper body.
The emergency medical services were summoned, and the victim was declared dead on the scene.
The preliminary report suggests that the suspects called the victim to meet and discuss price quotations at the crime scene. It is not clear as to what transpired until the victim was fatally stabbed. The members of the community allegedly caught one suspect, assaulted him, and later called the police.
The suspect sustained injuries from the mob attack, and he is at the hospital receiving medical care under police guard. Meanwhile, the remaining suspect was arrested on Wednesday, 14th January 2026.
The police have opened a case of assault GBH from the side of the community members and murder against the suspect.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police, Major General Scheepers, has called upon community members to resist the temptation of taking law into their own hands and allow the police to do their work without any interference.
The deceased was identified as Mr Philip Mabusha, a Zimbabwean National. The motive behind the incident is still unknown at this stage, but the police investigation is underway.
The suspect will appear before Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 16 January 2026, on murder charges.
