Three Limpopo government departments tabled their 2026/27 budget votes at the Limpopo Legislature in Lebowakgomo on Thursday, May 7, outlining plans aimed at improving service delivery, healthcare, economic growth, arts, sports and tourism development.
The joint budget presentations were delivered by the provincial departments of Sports, Arts and Culture, Health, and Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (LEDET).
Limpopo MEC for Sports, Arts and Culture, Jerry Maseko announced that his department’s budget had been reduced by 2.8%, decreasing from R877.492 million to R852.902 million for the 2026/27 financial year.
Despite the reduction, Maseko said the department remains committed to supporting sports development, promoting arts and culture, and preserving the province’s heritage.
Meanwhile, the Limpopo Department of Health under MEC Dieketseng Mashego, received a major budget boost, with its allocation increasing by 10% to R28.7 billion.
Of the total health budget, R15.2 billion has been allocated to district health services and hospitals, where most residents first access healthcare services.
A further R3.3 billion was earmarked for regional and specialised hospitals, while tertiary health services received R2.8 billion.
The department also allocated R2.1 billion towards HIV and TB programmes and R164.9 million for malaria control interventions across the province.
The Limpopo Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (LEDET) led by MEC Tshitereke Natibe, was allocated R1.814 billion to support economic growth, environmental sustainability and tourism development.
Government said the budget votes reaffirm its commitment to improving service delivery and strengthening key sectors that contribute to the province’s socio-economic development.
